"When Heather got a job with Endeavour, she had a purpose, a reason to get up in the morning. She loves it and she’s excited to go in. We think that every person with disability deserves the same."

Jimmy & Avril, parents to Endeavour Foundation Supported Employee Heather

Hi, we’re Jimmy and Avril, and we want to talk to you about our daughter Heather.

When we found out she had Williams Syndrome, there weren’t internet pages to read up on or clues on what our choices or hers could be. Trust us when we say that there’s no crystal ball and there’s no manual that comes with having a child with disability.

When Heather got a job with Endeavour, she had a purpose, a reason to get up in the morning.  She loves it and she’s excited to go in. We think that every person with disability deserves the same; an opportunity to learn skills and find a job that gives them a reason to get out of bed. She and those she works with now would love to do more if she had the opportunity to learn, and there are many others out there who are simply looking for help to gain employment.

This is why we’re excited for Endeavour Foundation’s Get Work Ready learning program.

This program will give her and others the workplace skills they need. The hurdle for Heather and close to 80 others who want to be part of this program in 2022, is that it will cost $250,000; an amount that is not funded by the NDIS.

But if we all put in a little, we can make this happen. I think if 10 people gave just $26 a month, at least one more person with disability like Heather could gain a sense of purpose through Endeavour Foundation’s ‘Get Work Ready’ learning programs. Just imagine what would happen if we got the whole community involved.

We’ve got a beautiful daughter with disability and she’s lucky to have a truly great community around her. We want to see her and others like her getting the opportunities they deserve to grow with this community and in their careers.

Please, donate today. Every donation counts when making a difference for kids like Heather.
