General Information

What is Home Run and what do I have to do?

add remove

Home Run is an all-abilities virtual fitness fundraising event, so you decide how you want to move, based on what feels best for you. Our goal is to encourage everyone to move their own way for at least 30 minutes each day in May.  Whether it’s walking, running, swimming, dancing, bike riding, rolling or skating - anything and everything is possible!

When is the event?

add remove

Registrations for Home Run open Monday, 18 March 2024, and the event takes place Wednesday, 1 May 2024 to Friday, 31 May 2024.

How much do I need to raise for Endeavour Foundation?

add remove

There is no minimum fundraising expectation when taking part in Home Run. Any funds you can raise are greatly appreciated.

Where does the money go?

add remove

The money raised by our Home Runners will help Endeavour Foundation to provide opportunities for people with disability to learn life skills, live independently, find a job they love, and be actively involved in their local communities.

Funds raised by participating Endeavour Foudation Social Entreprises and Learning & Lifestyle Hubs will go directly to the goals each team have set.

Participation

What happens if I can’t achieve my fitness and fundraising goals?

add remove

Don't worry – we understand life can throw curve balls. No matter how much you can do, we appreciate your efforts. Every step you take and every bit of money you raise helps both you and the people we support.

So, I don’t have to run?

add remove

No you don’t have to run! Unlike other fitness fundraising events that focus on running specific distances, our event is inclusive of all abilities.

You can engage in any physical activity that can be tracked by time using a fitness tracker or simply recorded manually. Even low-impact exercises like tai chi are welcome – the goal is simply to get moving and enjoy the process, no matter your pace or preferred activity.

I have earned a fundraising reward, when will I receive it?

add remove

Lanyards, caps, and water bottles will be dispatched regularly throughout May. For other incentives like t-shirts and hoodies, they will be mailed to the address you provided after 31 May.

To qualify for special draw prizes, you must meet the fundraising milestone and continue participating in the event until 31 May, 2024. Please keep in mind that these prizes will be distributed after the conclusion of the challenge.

Fitness and activity

How can I track my km / activity?

add remove

It's totally up to you! Your 'home run' goal is about what you feel comfortable doing and can manage, as long as you do it for at least 30 minutes each day in May.

If you love being active, you might want to set a goal to beat your personal best. But if you prefer taking it easy, just moving your body for 30 minutes a day can be your 'home run.'

Doing 30 minutes of activity every day adds up to 15 and a half hours of looking after yourself throughout May, all for a good cause.

Do I have to track my activity?

add remove

There's no pressure for you to log your activity every day. What matters most is that you enjoy staying active and embrace the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

How can I track my time each day?

add remove

You have two options to log your minutes. Firstly, you can manually enter your time on your Home Run page. This is helpful if you're using a watch or clock to monitor your activity and want to stay accountable. Alternatively, you can automatically track your distance by linking your page to Strava, Fitbit, or MapMyFitness.

How do I connect my tracking app?

add remove

To seamlessly connect your tracking app with your page, we recommend using Strava, MapMyFitness, or Fitbit. If you haven't already, setting up a profile with one of these apps is quick and easy.

Once you have an account, simply visit your Home Run page via to connect up (you may need to log in first).

What if I have an Apple Watch?

add remove

Not a problem! Many other GPS-enabled activity trackers work well with Strava. Just set up a Strava account and then connect your device / app to it.

What if I don't use any of these tracking options?

add remove

If you know the amount of time you have been active each day, jump on to the ‘My Fitness Activity’ section of your Home Run page. Here you will see a section where you can quickly and easily add and save any activity you have done that day or week.

Can I take part if I have a medical condition?

add remove

We strongly advise consulting your doctor or healthcare provider to make an informed decision tailored to your specific medical needs. If your doctor requires more information about the event to offer accurate guidance, we welcome them to reach out to us. This ensures they have a complete understanding of the physical demands involved.

Fundraising and Donations

When does the fundraising start?

add remove

While your daily movement challenge doesn't start until 1 May, you can begin fundraising as soon as you sign up.

This means you can begin earning fantastic rewards right away!

What is the appropriate language to use when talking about people with disability?

add remove

The choice of language we use has an impact on the way people with disability are perceived in the wider community.

We kindly ask that you avoid using stereotypes and instead opt for language that portrays individuals with disabilities as active members of society who live, work, and engage in their communities.

In simple terms, we encourage you to focus on words and phrases like:

  • ‘People with disability or person with disability. For example, ‘Supporting people with disability to live their best days ever’

Avoid words and phrases like:

  • ‘Physically challenged’
  • ‘Differently abled’
  • ‘Special needs’
  • ‘Disadvantaged’
  • ‘Vulnerable’
  • ‘Suffer from disability’

Are donations tax-deductible?

add remove

Yes, donations made to your individual or team page over $2 are tax-deductible. Upon donation, donors will receive an automated email containing their tax receipt for their records.

What should I do with any cash donations?

add remove

If you receive cash or cheques as part of your fundraising efforts, we advise depositing them into your bank account first. Once deposited, you can use your card to make a donation on behalf of your generous donor(s) through your Home Run page.
