Thanks to grant support from the Queensland Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund, residents at our one of our supported disability homes in South Mackay can now enjoy a safer, more accessible outdoor space.
The home’s existing front yard was spongy, uneven, and patchy, creating hazards for residents with limited mobility and long-term health conditions. As a result, the area was inaccessible and largely underused.
The grant enabled us to install synthetic turf, creating a level, durable and low-maintenance surface that residents can confidently access and enjoy throughout the year. The improved space supports greater independence, wellbeing, and connection with the community.
Projects like this are only possible through grants and the generosity of community and philanthropic supporters. Without this funding, the much-needed improvements would remain out of reach. With support like this we can achieve our mission to make possibilities a reality for the people we serve.
