Endeavour Foundation’s 75th anniversary was proudly marked by a special reception hosted by, the Governor of Queensland, Dr Jeanette Young AC PSM, Patron of Endeavour Foundation, together with Professor Nimmo, at Government House.
The event was both a tribute to our humble beginnings—and a celebration of what we’ve accomplished together. It was in 1951 that a small group of determined parents met on a verandah in suburban Brisbane, united by a vision of dignity, opportunity, and independence for their children with intellectual disability.
Reflecting on this journey, Her Excellency described Endeavour Foundation as a story of “innovation, inclusiveness, and dogged determination”—qualities that continue to define our work today. In her remarks, Her Excellency also acknowledged the families, staff, volunteers, supporters and leaders whose compassion and dedication are “deeply embedded in the Foundation’s DNA.”
Board Chair Elizabeth Jameson AM and Chair of the Client Advisory Group, Andrew Bowden, delivered a personal Vote of Thanks to Her Excellency. Speaking on behalf of many, they acknowledged the people who have enabled Endeavour Foundation to flourish for more than seven decades—families, donors and volunteers, and most importantly, the people with intellectual disability whom we serve.Andrew concluded with the hope that, in another 75 years, people will once again gather with a future Governor of Queensland to celebrate 150 years of Endeavour Foundation and the enduring impact of its community.
Among those in attendance were many of the people who have made this journey possible: our donors, supporters, staff, volunteers, and partners. Their dedication and collaboration have been — and remain — the driving force behind our impact.
“The connections we have with our donors, supporters and partners—developed over so many years—have been truly transformative,” said Head of Philanthropy, Sharon Wood. “Their generosity, expertise and unwavering commitment continue to help us create change where it matters most.”
From our early workshops and schools to the thriving social enterprises and supported employment programs of today, the past 75 years stand as a testament to what a community can achieve when compassion meets purpose.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Her Excellency and everyone who joined us to celebrate a proud history—and an exciting future where we’ll continue making possibilities a reality, together.
