A Transformational Gift for Toowoomba
For more than 20 years, the Brazil Family Foundation has been donor and their family foundation have stood alongside Endeavour Foundation quietly supporting projects that strengthen communities and create meaningful opportunities for people with intellectual disability. Their deep commitment and enduring connection to our mission has now culminated in an extraordinary act of generosity, a transformational gift that is making a lasting impact on our Toowoomba Disability Supported Employment (DSE) site.
A Legacy of Opportunity in Toowoomba
Since 1968, Endeavour’s Toowoomba DSE has been creating employment opportunities for people with disability in the region. What began with farming and recycling has evolved over more than five decades into a diverse and thriving operation, now including multi-certified food packaging, and confidential document destruction services.
Today, the site employs 123 people with intellectual disability and supports a broad network of commercial customers, many based in regional Queensland. The work undertaken at Toowoomba is highly visible, trusted, and valued within the local community.
This latest gift from the Brazil Family Foundation is building on that legacy, enabling a significant expansion of the site’s pet food packing facility.
Expanding Capacity, Creating Opportunity
With this investment, Endeavour Foundation has been able to upgrade infrastructure for its pet food packing facility, install new equipment, and construct a dedicated storage facility to support a more advanced and efficient production operation.
Production capacity is expected to increase by up to 300–400%, growing from 6,000–8,000 units per month to a scale that can meet rising commercial demand. This increased capability will allow Endeavour Foundation to better support existing customers while opening the door to new partnerships across the region and beyond.
Importantly, this growth translates directly into opportunity.
The expansion is expected to create between 18 and 24 new supported employment roles for people with intellectual disability, providing not just jobs, but pathways to independence, confidence, and community participation. For some, this will be their first experience of paid employment; for others, a stepping stone toward broader opportunities.
In addition, current employees will benefit from upskilling and increased engagement in a more dynamic production environment.
Economic and Community Impact
The benefits extend beyond employment alone. The expanded facility is projected to generate an additional $252,720 in annual revenue, funds that are reinvested directly into Endeavour Foundation’s programs and services, amplifying the organisation’s ability to support people with intellectual disability.
Just as importantly, this gift demonstrates the power of local giving. In regions like Southern Queensland, donors value seeing the tangible outcomes of their contributions, the people, the workplaces, and the communities directly impacted.
This project stands as a compelling example of how philanthropy can drive both economic and social outcomes at a local level.
A Visit That Brought Impact to Life
Recently, Sharon Wood, Head of Philanthropy and the Toowoomba team had the pleasure of welcoming the donor onsite for a personal visit. It was a meaningful opportunity to share firsthand the impact of their support.
They spent time meeting employees, hearing their stories, and joining the team for morning tea, moments that brought the purpose of the site to life in a tangible and personal way.
To mark the significance of their contribution, they were presented with the inaugural pin as the first of Endeavour Foundation’s Founding 75 members of the Possibility Fund, a symbol of their leadership and belief in what is possible.
Site Manager Anne, alongside Area Manager Matt and Executive General Manager - Work Greg McCluand, proudly showcased the work being done and the difference it makes in the lives of people supported at the site every day.
Looking Ahead
As construction and upgrades progress, the Toowoomba expansion represents more than increased production — it represents possibility.
Possibility for individuals to access meaningful work.
Possibility for businesses to partner with a trusted, inclusive enterprise. And possibility for communities to grow stronger through connection, contribution, and shared purpose.
This transformational gift is not only changing what Endeavour Foundation can deliver today, it is helping shape a more inclusive future for Southern Queensland.
